From the Atlas Mountains to the Souks of Marrakesh

From the soaring Atlas mountains to the colourful souks of Marrakech, Morocco is a country of intense contrasts and incredible culture. The way and pace of life from the mountains to the coasts of Morocco can be vastly different. We spent many days hiking in the Atlas mountains – it was a tranquil and rejuvenating experience few places can replicate. Here we got to know the warmth and hospitality of the Berber people and understand a little of their way of life.

Our stay in Marrakech was an eye-opening one. The city is greatly romanticised, a lingering effect of the West’s fascination with the Orient from the early days of leisure travel. The city has retained its charm and significance through the centuries, and its souks continue to play an essential role in the cultural life of its residents.
