Bali’s popularity as a holiday and travel destination is unmatched. European students on their gap year and Australians seeking an inexpensive place to party often choose it as their favorite destination. Regional tourists also travel here in search of an affordable yet beautiful getaway. However, despite the influx of visitors, the island of Bali continues to retain its charm and authenticity.

When we visited, avoiding “tourist traps” proved easy. Firstly, we discovered the quiet beachside village of Ahmed. There, we enjoyed incredible fresh seafood and tranquil views of the Bali Sea. We also retreated to the serene forest just outside Ubud, staying at the spectacular Amori Villas, which perch on the side of a tree-covered valley.
