Paul Weller – “The Modfather” of UK Pop Rock

It may be enough to say that bands like Oasis and Blur cite him as an inspiration…

One of the best solo male artists, Weller is a trendsetter on the UK pop and rock scene, with bands like Oasis and Blur citing him as an inspiration.

Emerging as the frontman of the seminal punk rock band The Jam in the late 1970s, Weller helped shape the sound of the era with hits like “Town Called Malice” and “Going Underground.” He further expanded his musical palette with The Style Council in the 1980s, blending pop, soul, and jazz influences.

As a solo artist from the early 1990s onward, Weller has continued to evolve, earning the moniker “The Modfather” for his enduring impact on music and style.
